Manuel Bachoore's World Champion 4-4-1-1 Tactics Guide
This guide explains how to set up the 4-4-1-1 formation in EA FC 27, as shared by world champion Manuel Bachoore.
Attacking Setup
This formation excels at counter-attacks thanks to the tight link between the CAM and the ST. The wide midfielders (LM/RM) are encouraged to cut inside to create space and finish chances.
Defending Setup
The tactic heavily relies on midfielders dropping back to support the defense rather than solely depending on the backline. You should manually control your fullbacks to apply pressure instead of pulling your center-backs out of position and leaving exploitable gaps.
Tactics and Player Roles
- Defense: Depth is set at 60.
- Striker (ST): Set to False 9.
- CAM: Set to Shadow Striker.
- Central Midfielders (CM): Set to Box-to-Box.
- Wide Midfielders (LM/RM): Set to Inside Forward.
- Goalkeeper: Set to Sweeper Keeper.
Why are the Central Midfielders (CM) so crucial?
According to Manuel Bachoore, the CMs are the "heart" of the 4-4-1-1 formation because of their constant up-and-down movement (box-to-box):
- Linking the play: Midfielders are the only players involved in every phase, from build-up play in your own half to applying pressure around the opponent's box.
- The key to counter-defense: During fast counter-attacks, you must use your midfielders to drop back and apply pressure from behind, rather than controlling your center-backs.
- Attacking-defensive balance: Going forward, they offer extra long-range shooting options. Defending, they are always your first line of defense.
*Midfielder requirements:* You need at least one player with great tackling and playmaking abilities. Stamina and power shots are a must.
*Player recommendations:* Valverde is Manuel's primary choice. For a cheaper alternative, Guarin is highly recommended for his power shots.
Why 60 Depth instead of 70?
Setting depth at 60 perfectly balances attack and defense. It prevents your backline from pushing up too high, avoiding gaps behind your center-backs that opponents can exploit with through balls. At 60 depth, you have enough time to manually drag your midfielders back to defend. Pushing it to 70 makes defending too risky and leaves your team vulnerable during quick transitions.
